Acethetics in 2026

Blogging rules, but I am not always the best at doing it consistently. At some point around 2022, having read a few of the essays in k-punk, I had an ambitious idea for a blog that would also serve as a semi-professional landing page for myself as a freelance writer and photographer. I have less ambition to make money off of my writing than I did at that time, but my need to talk to the world has not gone away.

I have been paying for this squarespace page for the last 4 years, and every year when I have the opportunity to cancel, I can’t make myself do it.

I wanted Acethetics to be a whole lot cooler than this is going to be. I wanted it to be some cross between homestarrunner.com and The Village Voice, and also to be my ticket to the big time as a cool Vice news writer and photographer.

Now? I just want to write things that a few of the people I know might read, and to see where things go from there. I have a bunch of writing about a bunch of topics that has just kind of been gathering digital dust for 1-4 years.

I guess I can’t be precious about the aesthetics of Acethetics anymore. It’s a work in progress, welcome.
